Latest rumor from Germany is around a new BMW model coming to market. Developed under the name BMW i100 Coupe ActiveHybrid, the new eco-sports car is scheduled to launch in 2013 and will compete against Audi’s E-Tron and Mercedes’ SLS E-Cell.

The i100 is designed as a plug-in hybrid and will be able to drive 15 to 50 kilometers on electric motor. Auto Bild reports that the i100 will feature a three-cylinder direct injection engine, most likely a diesel unit similar to the one found in the Vision Concept, producing 165 to 185 horsepower.

The Red Bull KTM Factory rider crashed heavily on his shoulder in the second moto in Loket, Czech Republic last weekend. This came after a great showing in the first moto which saw him finish third, moving him into the championship’s top three.


The Dutch rider couldn’t have hoped for a better first campaign in MX2 as he enjoyed winning his first career GP at home in the Netherlands before following that up with a second win in Latvia. Despite his difficult decision, Herlings said it was the right time to withdraw from the season.


“Now I have to take at least six week's rest before I can have the surgery on my shoulder," he said. "The muscles are still very swollen and the swelling has to go down before the operation.


“After that I will need 2-3 months of recovery time but that means I will be fit and ready to race at the beginning of the 2011 season.
